Chilean Fernando González, German Tommy Haas, Argentine Juan Monaco and Frenchman Richard Gasquet will headline the 2010 Movistar Open, an ATP World Tour 250 tournament which begins January 31 in Santiago, Chile.

The Movistar Open will be held during the 200th anniversary of Chilean independence and will feature players from Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, USA, Italy, Poland and Uruguay.

"The tournament coincides with the 200th anniversary and will be remembered as one of the most competitive editions. The main draw is a very high standard and if Gonzalez is to regain his trophy, it is going to be much tougher than other years with Haas, Mónaco, Gasquet and Massú all very difficult to beat,” said tournament director Alvaro Fillol.

Next year the Movistar Open returns to the Chilean capital at Hacienda Chicureo, in Piedra Roja Valley, in the suburb of Colina and will be an excellent venue for fans and players alike.

Gonzalez, defending champion and currently No. 11 in the South African Airways 2009 ATP Rankings, won four titles at the former venue of Viña del Mar. Haas, former World No. 2, will visit Chile for first time in his career, as will Gasquet. Monaco finished runner-up at Viña del Mar in 2008.
